@studiocatherine Not in the slightest! Our printers just require a little extra time.
In this new regular series, we find out what gets creatives up in the morning and how they navigate through their days.
Below, Vince Frost, CEO and creative director at Frost Design in Sydney takes up through his daily routine.
I wake up with a head full of ideas and am raring to go (this is always dependent on how many glasses of wine I have consumed the night before). I quietly meditate for 20 minutes to give my brain some space in preparation for the day ahead.
I’m headed out for a lap jog around nearby Centennial Park. It’s a beautiful park and full of people doing stuff that motivates me. I feel like I am in the English countryside, which is a grounding influence on me, except for the highly competitive Lycra clad cyclists who tear around the park screaming at the top of their lungs at anything or anyone ‘coming through’.
Back home, shower, check emails and plan the day ahead with my partner Miya. We work together and we bounce ideas off each other constantly.
I find one of my local favourite cafes and grab a latte to go and a huge muffin.
I enter the studio and park myself at my desk to catch up with my PA and discuss some key meetings and reviews for the day.
Sitting with all the staff for our weekly staff breakfast where we discuss key points of work we are going for and recent wins etc.
Meeting in our pod with a new potential client. Great project and opportunity for us.
Have a PPM (personal performance meeting) with one of my design directors. I do this every two weeks and it’s a great way to keep an open dialogue and keep track of their progress or any issues. He is going really well.
Marketing meeting about our possible PR opportunities and outcomes.
Lunch at Shortgrain with a writer to discuss a new project and book idea.
Meeting with a client about some new projects.
Brand WIP with the brand team. We do this every day at the same time. We are working on a new restaurant name and identity, a new book for Phaidon and lots more.
3D WIP with the environments team. I go around all the designers’ desks and see how they are tracking on their projects and see if I need to add any input.
Conference call with a client in Asia.
Check emails and diary requests.
Interview a candidate for a new role.
Call my three kids and talk to them about their days (my kids are with their mum during the week and stay with me on weekends).
Go for dinner at Chiswick (Matt Moran’s new restaurant) with a potential new client. The place is buzzing and it’s great to see all the collateral we designed for the place in the hands of the customers.
Head home. Check and respond to emails. Miya and I share notes on the day.
