It was only a matter of time before we saw a sci-fi horror movie about advertising, and here it is. Branded, starring Ed Stoppard, Jeffrey Tambor, Leelee Sobieski and Maz Von Sydow, is set in a bizarre, dystopian society where corporate brands control the minds of a disillusioned population. The movie depicts an ugly world of consumer gluttony and materialistic behaviour, in quite a disturbing way. With one man making it his mission to uncover the truth behind the hidden forces and corporate brands that control our world. Leading to an impressive final battle, the movie forces you to think twice about how brands control our behaviour.
Keeping with the advertising theme, Branded has created an interactive way to promote the movie. Throughout the trailer there are 97 unique QR codes, along with additional QR codes on the film’s website, social pages, posters and other material. Once scanned each QR code allows the audience to get a further look into the surreal and insatiable world of Branded.
Written and directed by marketing executives Jamie Bradshaw and Alexander Doulerain, Branded is set to be release on 7 September.
