Stepping away from furniture briefly, Herman Miller, has announced a touring poster exhibition Then x Ten, which involves 10 prominent international designers. The brand has long been associated with illustration and design through its iconic collection of promotional posters over the last century and aims to use this exhibition to celebrate the ‘power of the poster’.

There is a chance for you to get involved, as Herman Miller is looking to select one other poster to be exhibited alongside those from the 10 chosen designers. Posters will be accepted from designers across Australia, New Zealand (and Asia Pacific) and all posters must contain a visual reference to the Herman Miller SAYL Chair. If the full chair is not shown there must be a clear visual likeness (see below for image of the chair).

To enter, email your design to info_au@hermanmiller.com as a digital file (jpg only) at the following dimensions: 594mm height x 420 mm width (or constrained proportionality) and no larger than 1mb in size. Visit Herman Miller’s Facebook page for more terms and conditions of entry – entries close on 22 July 2012.

The exhibition will be curated by Steve Frykholm, Herman Miller’s creative director of 42 years, who will also be selecting the competition finalists. The full exhibition will tour throughout the Asia Pacific in 2012-2013 with a line-up that includes our very own Craig Redman, Karl Maier and Jonathan Zawada, but also Eda Alkutun (Turkey), Emily Forgot (United Kingdom), Genevieve Gauckler (France), Sanghon Kim (Korea), Mrzyk & Moriceau (France), Felix Pfaffli (Switzerland), Keiichi Tanaami (Japan) and Kam Tang (Hong Kong).

The first leg of the exhibition is in Melbourne at fortyfivedownstairs from 14 August to August 25. Each piece of artwork will be strictly limited to 10 prints, screen printed in Melbourne.
