@studiocatherine Not in the slightest! Our printers just require a little extra time.
The Life Extender Project explores the complex conscious and unconscious relationship humans have with technological objects and devices.
Looking at acts of convergence and trust in the information age, the project invites you to select a technological object or device from your everyday life and give the object a ‘real’ name as a means to extend the lifespan of the object when the threat of technological upgrade and/or abandonment draws closer and closer.
Inspired by the relationships humans have with their pets, the project seeks to examine the transfer this interactive relationship onto the object or device in an online setting.
Got Instagram? You’re invited to take a happy snap of your newly renamed object and upload the image with the hash tag #tasteofrealliving to create a fun online community of diverse individuals taking part in the project.
The Life Extender Project forms part of a Masters Thesis project by Jason Hatcher who is currently studying a Masters of Design at Monash University.
