A few rumours have been circulating, but it seems to be more than just an April Fools joke that Ashton Kutcher will be playing Steve Jobs in an upcoming biopic.
According to a report in The Guardian, Kutcher will be directed by Joshua Michael Stern in a film which “will chronicle the entrepreneur’s journey from “wayward hippie” to co-founder of the iconic technology firm, “where he became one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of our time”” (quotes taken from The Guardian’s source Variety, an entertainment newspaper based in USA).
Details about the biopic are few – it’s to be based on a screenplay written by Matt Whiteley and shooting is to start in May 2012. Stern’s project however, is not the only film which is said to be made about Jobs – “the other Jobs film is based on Walter Isaacson’s bestselling authorised biography of the Apple founder, and Sony was at one point tapping Aaron Sorkin of The West Wing and The Social Network fame to take on screenwriting duties,” reports The Guardian.
More details to come soon.
