Modern Craft Project – entries open

Ketel One Vodka is once again running its Modern Craft Project –  a quest to find contemporary craftsmen who bring traditional skills to the modern day.

The project is searching for submissions from local creatives who “want to take their work, their careers, and themselves further, and show how they do one thing well. People keen to establish a legacy of their own.” Submissions can range from a variety of fields (from tailors to bartenders to product designers), but with the common thread of a mix of heritage and modernity within their craft. The Australian leg of the competition is open to Australian residents over the age of 25, with a shortlist of 10 entrants to be selected by the following panel:

  • Nick Palumbo of Gelato Messina
  • Lucy Folk of Lucy Folk Jewellery
  • Christian Condo of the Modern Motor Cycle Company

The overall Australian winner will receive the Ketel One Legacy – a hefty $100 000 prize – to further their craft. If this sounds like you, then complete the entry form online here – entries close on 1 December.

  1. I make upright double basses by hand from scratch using raw materials, hand making every single part of the instrument except the strings.
