There is a rising trend in designers crossing over into the art world, and this week sees two very different and interesting looking exhibitions opening in Melbourne.
Opening first is Monochrome, an exhibition of work by designer Nick Thomm. Monochrome is a solo exhibit of works blending digital and traditional process to create a unique collection of mixed media artworks. Thomm is the founder of The Drop Studio, and has recently exhibited in London and Hong Kong. Monochrome opens at 6:30pm this Thursday October 4th at No Vacany Gallery. It will run until Sunday October 14th.
The following night at 6:00pm Friday October 5th, a group show curated by Adam Cruikshank will open Platform Contemporary Art Spaces. Dodecahedron will feature work from the likes of Damiano Bertoli, Zoe Croggon, Adam Cruickshank, Tony Garifalakis, Stuart Geddes, John Warwicker, and Dexter Sinister. Additionally, a book titled Dodecatalogue, will be published in conjunction with the exhibition, featuring work from all exhibitors plus a few additional contributors.
