Now is the time to reach into your cupboard and donate those t-shirts lingering at the back. Brisbane’s the stitchery collective, wants any pre-loved shirts for its T-Shirt Drive – a project which requires hundreds of t-shirts which will be transformed into other clothing items.
The team is heading to Europe to represent Australia at the 3rd Annual International Kids Festival where they’ll be running upcycling fashion workshops for a crowd of international kids (hence the need for the shirts). They plan to turn the t-shirts into mini ponchos, scarves and beanies.
According to the team, the t-shirts can be: printed, coloured, sloganed, freebie, too small, too big, men’s, women’s, kids, I heart NY, Kevin 07, ‘I survived the ultimate Amsterdam pubcrawl’ t-shirts and every kind of t-shirt that ever existed.
T-shirt donations can be made in person at the stitchery collective studio in Bell Bros, Brisbane, or by any other means you have of getting them there before the end of January 2012. Head to the Facebook page to read more.
