Terrible Twos – call for students

The Design Kids, in partnership with desktop magazine, are hosting a one night charity exhibition at No Vacancy Gallery (QV, Melbourne) on 7 June 2012, which is all about bridging the gap between emerging designers and established studios.

So what is involved?
Twenty of the best design studios in Melbourne will be paired up with an emerging designer and will be given an A1 piece of wood, cut diagonally into two pieces. The studio will then choose a compound word (two words that when separated mean one thing and when put together mean something else e.g. rainbow, endless). The studio then visually responds to one part of the word on their piece of wood, and the emerging designer responds to the second part of the word on their piece of wood. The pieces are joined, displayed at the exhibition and then silent auctioned with the money going to a charity of the studio’s choosing.

We are currently looking for twenty Melbourne-based students/emerging designers, who will be paired up with a studio for this project.

How to apply:
Send a PDF to desktop@niche.com.au (subject: Terrible Twos) with the following specifications:

Page 1: Your name, email address, contact number, design education details, link to folio website (if you have one), and a ranking of the 5 studios that you most want to work with (from the list below)
Pages 2-4: A selection of your work (at least 3 different projects)
*PDF must be less than 3mb*
