Social media engagement fluctuates over the course of a week, but Mashable pointed out evidence this week that engagement is at the highest level on Thursdays and Fridays. Social media marketing company Buddy Media released a study of 200 of its clients’ Facebook activity, pointing out when the highest levels of engagement occur.
As well as recommending elements of Facebook posts that gain the most engagement such as keeping it short, and staying away from URL shorteners, the report also shows that user engagement spikes at the end of each week.

The report also mentions that each industry’s user engagement peaks at different points during the week, but several social media leaders agreed that most social media users are more engaged heading into the weekend.
Rick Liebling from Coyne PR told Mashable, “It’s a matter of people finally pushing past the work week and coasting toward the weekend, picking their head up a bit to see what’s going on and what their friends are up to.”
Dan Zarrella, a social media scientist at HubSpot, agreed: “As the overall activity seems to slow down from the hustle and bustle of the week, readers can give each tweet more attention because there are fewer other tweets fighting for it.”
Buddy Media’s report also shows the best time of day to post, in order to achieve the most user engagement.
