Adshel recently called on design schools across Australia to create a poster that discourages vandalism of bus/tram shelters. CATC design student Olivia Vine took the top spot with her “Turn your back on vandalism” design.

The poster had to appeal to the target group of vandals aged 14-25, and was judged by a panel including Simon Langley from 303, Noah Regan from Three Drunk Monkeys and Jim Montague, general manager of Canterbury Council.

Olivia’s poster will be displayed on Adshel panels around the country from 11 April – 8 May 2011, and also on A1 stickers displayed on a selelected shelters in Melbourne and Sydney. She also wins a return air ticket to a bus shelter of her choice in any Australian capital city.

Bad design, and silly idea overall. How many failed attempts at stopping graffiti does it take to realise a poster like this wont make a difference.

Shouldn’t it say “Don’t turn your back on vandalism”?
