Curious Creatures is an interactive art installation developed by Adelaide-based Rezon8 for the Splendid Arts Program. It was first presented at the 2011 Splendour in the Grass, and will also be presented at Vryfestival in Bloemfontein in South Africa in July 2012.

It’s an augmented reality work where the digital silhouettes of festival goers are projected onto a three metre high site fence together with computer generated ‘Curious Creatures’. Using infrared sensors to analyse the real world environment the creatures are aware of the presence of the audience and punters can interact with the shadows of the creatures.

Curious Creatures has been shortlisted for the SXSW Interactive Awards, which will be announced in March 2012 in Texas.
