Surface Digital recently embarked on a rebrand and redesign of its own website to more accurately position the agency within the digital services industry. The communication objective was to reflect its transition from a multidisciplinary design studio to a full service agency specialising in digital strategy, user experience and web development. Continuing a commitment to high standards in visual design, the decision was made to incorporate traditional illustrative elements and photography with a contemporary interface aesthetic.
After a number of weeks analysing the agency’s own strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, a new brand vision was synthesised and shared with the entire team. The team was then invited to comment on how they would like their agency to be perceived, and a series of interaction design workshops were held to enable everyone to contribute to the design of the user experience. An agile development process then guided the production of the website on Surface Digital’s own Content Management System, SurfCMS.
