Hulsbosch – Communication by Design has created the 39th Annual Report for the Taronga Conservation Society Australia, which operates Taronga Zoo in Sydney, and Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo. This 188-page document titled For the Wild is a significant public information tool. It supports a range of marketing and fundraising initiatives that underpin the organisation’s activities in the fields of conservation, research and environmental education.
Leveraging creative concepts and assets from the brand positioning (created by Whybin TBWA titled For the Wild), Hulsbosch’s challenge was to transpose the visual style, emotion and sentiment of this work into the design and layout of the annual report.
The document delivers the profound expression of hope and belief in a future that has humankind and animals living together, the cause that Taronga Conservation Society represents. It continues the brand journey with impact, using the strength of a handwritten font to convey the act of the individual signing or pledging one’s commitment. Together with large photographic imagery and watercolour illustrations, the report is an example of print design that effectively communicates to Taronga’s broad audience and stakeholders.
