The brief was to create a poster/flyer that was bold and graphic to take The Finders Keepers Market in a fresh new direction for their Autumn/Winter Sydney event in June.

Many of the images referenced by The Finders Keepers referenced in their brief were elements that already have a big influence on Sydney-based illustrator, Andrea Smith’s, work such as bright colours, strong silhouettes, geometric shapes and Scandinavian aesthetic. She wanted the design to have a modern look but also retain a vintage feel.

The artwork was created by hand using collage technique, with painted and found paper to create the design and give the image texture. Keeping a hand made quality to the artwork was also important as it echoed what The Finders Keepers markets are all about… original, creative, handmade design.

The event text and logos were then added digitally to the design after it had been scanned.
