Mobiles are generally considered to be the poor man’s chandelier or just plain creepy. Renilde De Peuter of At-Swim-Two-Birds’ creations are neither. Breaking mobile convention her designs are handmade, incorporating hand painted wooden balls in various hues, putting your grade six Solar System mobile to shame. Their simple composition renders them almost abacus like, and their exclusion of freakish lullabys means you can securely attach these mobiles to your ceiling without the feeling that you’re starring in the opening sequence of a horror film.
Renilde De Peuter’s talents do not stop there, she is a multidisciplinary artist and crafter, making woven tapestries, embroidered pin cushions, crocheted potholders and woolen chair cushions.
