New Gorillaz album to be recorded on the iPad

Frontman of the band Gorillaz, Damon Albarn, has told NME that his band’s new album should be out before Christmas and will be recorded completely on Apple’s latest success story, the iPad.

Providing Apple’s marketing team with advertising that no money can buy, the follow up to Plastic Beach (which was released earlier this year) will most certainly raise interest even further in the tablet computer as an extremely cost effective music-producing device.

Albarn told NME that he hopes he’ll be making the first album in the world entirely on an iPad. “I fell in love with my iPad as soon as I got it, so I’ve made a completely different kind of record” he said.

If you’d like a taste of a song from the new album, press play below for the new single Doncamatic scheduled to be released next week and featuring the vocals of British singer Daley. It sure is a different sound, let us know what you think…

  1. Interesting take on the potential of the iPad, but the apps to do it currently just aren’t up to scratch or are impossibly difficult to figure out.

Hopefully this news will mean a good quality app is on the cards. If so, it could make the whole self generated music scene WAY easier to get into for bands to record themselves. I would definitely be interested in finding an app that cuts it in the recording, editing and exporting stakes.
