20ten and the Internet’s dead, says Prince.

Reclusive musical genius Prince has declared the Internet age “completely over” ahead of the release of his new album 20Ten, and is refusing to use any digital platforms to distribute his music.

In line with his ongoing stance against digital technology— particularly song downloads—and its apparent demise, Prince was quoted in an interview with the Daily Mirror as saying, “The Internet’s like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated.”

“The Internet’s completely over. I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it,” he said.

With the drums beating loud to the memories of the Lars Ulrich (Metallica) vs Napster battle of 2000, one wonders if Prince’s comments reveal more to the point that “Money did matter yesterday, and it sure does matter tonight”?

What’s most disturbing for the world’s two billion-odd Internet users is Prince’s timing of this announcement: too late to party like it’s twenty-O-nine now.

ok this is probably one big publicity stunt (hey it’s working!), but i think it’s a pretty clever idea to get people talking and to be anti-digital. i wouldn’t say the internet is ‘completely’ over, but maybe it has had it’s day? i can’t imagine what we would do without it though!

  2. Ha hope what he’s saying is not true, because many of us would lose their jobs.

the internet responds in kind, and declares the Prince age completely and utterly over circa 1999.

  6. He must be having Computer Blues. Okay bad Prince joke.

  7. Does’nt matter Internet or CD I don’t buy or listen to His music. Internet really is a time waster for a lot of people. I used to use Facebook but have deleted all My info and photo albums.

All those zeros and ones out there are making me crazy!!

  9. Why am I reading this on the internet, anyway? His purpleness says internet is dead, so it is. Leave the internet, right now, and don´t ever come back. Unless, of course, his purpleness says other.
