To be held on 22 May, the Australian Book Design Awards is the oldest book design awards in the world. For its 63rd outing, the judging panel comprises five designers: Kirby Armstrong, Allison Colpoys, Vince Frost, Fabio Ongarato, David Pearson (UK); Meredith Drake of Big W; Lou Johnson (recently of Simon & Schuster Australia) and Stephen Romei, literary editor of the Australian.

A total of 351 entries were received across 15 categories, a 16 per cent increase on last year’s figures and the shortlist of nominees can be found here.

This is the second year the Awards have been run by the Australian Book Designers Association (ABDA), a not-for-profit organisation established in March 2014.

The winners  will be announced on Friday 22 May at Giant Dwarf Theatre in Redfern, Sydney. For ticketing information and further details about the Awards visit abda.com.au.
