The Design Institute of Australia Emerging Designers Council together with RMIT Link Arts and Culture are calling for designers (from any discipline) to be part of a design challenge, Design Wrap, which leads to a sustainability-focused exhibition.
Design Wrap is described as a ‘fast-paced challenge’ which brings together design students and graduates, partnering up with practicing designers from across Melbourne to test their design skills. The workshop will run twice – the top five groups from the challenge will return a week later for a further challenge. The results will then be showcased in the Refashioned: Sustainable Design Survey as part of RMIT’s L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival annual exhibition.
This year’s event is aimed at design students and recent graduates, and its purpose is to help the new generation of designers explore the field of sustainability, as well as gain some industry knowledge and contacts.
You can either register to collaborate with other designers or get together your own team of up to five. Registrations for the Design Wrap Challenge are essential. Register here or head to to ED Facebook page for more details.
The first workshop will be on Monday 25 March from 5 – 9pm at RMIT Link First Site Gallery – Storey Hall Basement in 344 Swanston Street, Melbourne, while Refashioned: Sustainable Design Survey launch and prize presentation will be held on Tuesday 26 March from 5:30pm – 7:30pm.
