iPhone 5 rumoured to include NFC

Forbes blogger Elizabeth Woyke alleges that Apple has disclosed to “several” mobile operators in the UK that it plans to include near-field communication technology in its next iPhone iteration.

Woyke says that “an entrepreneur who is working on a top-secret NFC project” is a friend of a person who works at Apple and this friend says that the iPhone 5 will have NFC contactless capabilities. Did you get all that? Well, in case you had doubts about the validity of the source Woyke goes on to state “I trust this source and know he has connections in the NFC market because of his own project.”

Apparently his entrepreneur also told Woyke that manufacturers of NFC readers are getting themselves prepped up for the oncoming “additional NFC traffic the iPhone 5 will being.”

AppleInsider ran a report in January that Apple was looking to hire a test engineer with experience in near-field communications, which further supports the ongoing rumours.

In addition to this, Germany’s Deutsche Telekom fuelled rumours even further by mentioning that Apple with oncoming e-wallet payment systems.
