Sharpening his skills with his work for Tame Impala and Bonobo, Leif Podhajsky continues to forging his reputation in album artwork and packaging for labels including Subpop, Sony, Virgin, Modular and Warp, as well as design work for Nike, Vice and Melbourne Music Week.

His now expansive portfolio reveals his characteristic psychedelic layering, creating clouds of deep colour and abstraction, for which he is now sought out for. His most recent project, Kelis, is an exception to his norm.

In the artwork for her new album Food, Podhajsky has designed a 12” gatefold with much simpler construction than the work that came before it. Kelis’ face, overlaid with flat, block type, retains tactility while shedding unnecessary layers, with a considered grid and quiet confidence. The vinyl itself, however, spares no expense and featured the multicoloured, abstract patterning that we have come to expect from Podhajsky.

Podhajsky also did the artwork for the singles, echoing the palette and simplicity of the main album, bringing the whole release together as a whole.
