The festival aims to entertain, inform and engage folks over three days of presentations, workshops, an exhibition and more. Venue: The Lock-Up, 90 Hunter St, Newcastle, from 10am to 4pm with break for lunch

Are you a recent grad wanting to burst into the professional creative world? Are you currently freelancing and want to power-up your skills? Are you a creative professional wanting to sharpen your skills?  Well this may be your ticket to ride.

A half-day conference structured to answer questions and provide priceless information surrounding the creative professions. Aimed at new and practicing creative professionals and freelancers, the conference aims to present practical and inspiring advice from people who understand the business of being a creative professional.

Speakers include Travis Price, Madeleine Burke, Wayne Thompson and more.

Venue: The Lock-Up, Newcastle from 10am to 1pm

Travis Price creates exciting illustrative pieces that pack a punch. Using strong use of colour, image and typography, Travis will guide participants through a series of techniques and methods underpinning his effective handle on the medium. Participants will need to have an understanding of Adobe Illustrator CS5.

Brush Lettering Workshop with Jess Cruickshank | Saturday, 12 December | $55 Student / $65 Professional
Venue: The Lock-Up, Newcastle from 1pm to 4pm

In this 3-hour class you’ll learn the basic skills needed to create expressive lettering using a brush. We’ll begin by exploring calligraphic principles using a Tombow brush pen, learning how to create letters from a series of strokes. Then using a round brush we’ll explore experimental styles and other techniques, encouraging you to find your own unique style. Along the way we’ll also discuss elements of composition such as hierarchy, rhythm, spacing, and flourishing, so you can leave with the skills to create a finished lettering piece.

Portfolio Masterclass | Sunday, 13 December |$20
Venue: Pumphouse Design School, 24 Greenway Street, Wickham, from 12pm to 2pm

A masterclass structured to give students and new professionals critical feedback on their portfolio through discussion and show and tell with design professionals. Bring your work along to discuss how you can make the most of your skills.
