Look See presents The Director’s Cut

Newcastle’s own annual Look See illustration & design exhibition is rolling out the red carpet and inviting you to interpret the world of cinema. Each year the exhibition (linked to the Look Hear design conference) invites image makers from all over the country to submit original works for show and sale, and this year the brief is to produce a piece inspired by the movies. You can either produce an imagined work by making up your own film or re-imagine an existing film.

You’ve got free range with your approach, but the idea is to create a new and unique visual response to the brief – rather than simply recreating an existing movie poster. Movie quotes are acceptable and character portraits from existing films are also permitted, though if you really want to make a movie poster, you’ll have to go all the way and make up the movie too!

Submissions close Monday 30th September A maximum of three pieces per person may be submitted. All types of art and design will be considered – this includes (but is not limited to) illustration, photography, paintings, graphic design, typography, video, sculpture, installation pieces, fashion and zines.

Email low-res jpegs (maximum of 2mb for entire submission to: submissions(at)lookhear.com

For more information and details, download the full brief.

The exhibition will run from 16th October to 3rd November at Watt Space gallery, on the corner of Auckland & King Streets, Newcastle NSW.
