Melburnians Cuddle Up to Break a World Record!

A very important record was smashed in Melbourne yesterday: the number of cuddles given out by a mascot – in this case, the super huggable, Mario. Of course it was all in the name of good publicity for Super Mario Galaxy 2, launched early yesterday morning at EB Games at the CBD’s Swanston Street store.

Fans waited in the freezing cold for the record-breaking hug fest. Over the course of 20 minutes, Mario dished out 172 hugs, breaking the previous record of 108. The game looks like a lot of fun, and unfortunately, I am yet to have a play. If you’ve had a crack at it, please feel free to let us know your thoughts in the comments bit below!

In other gaming news, The Age’s Screen Play reports ACMI have started throwing around some ideas for a major exhibition dedicated to the industry’s most influential developers. Following the enormous success of Game On back in 2008, the new exhibition will focus on the guys (and girls) whose contributions have shaped the gaming world. Sounds like it’ll be a big one, so stay tuned!

  1. AH I haven’t had a chance to play it yet either! I’m hearing it’s a perfect 10 like the first one. Let us know how it is if you play it any time soon.

    Thankyou!
