Pat Bradbury: identity as illustration
AUTHOR: Desktop
Recently graduated from the University of Brighton with a Bachelor of Illustration, Bradbury was recently commissioned by The Cliff Dive—a Papua New Guinea-inspired late night dance hall in Sydney’s Darlinghurst—to design a poster and branding that reflects the venue’s penchant for tropical kitsch and silly fun.
Using paint to create texture and cut paper collage, the wild identity is loose and fun, lacking the strict, overall conformity or meticulous reduction of any typical branding project, instead using detailed illustration—meticulous in a different way—to offer the ‘vibe’ of the place. Despite his freshness in professional life, Bradbury already has a colourful portfolio of work and confident approach, gaining a following through his regular website updates of process and finished work. Watch out for him in our upcoming March issue!
