Portable Presents Frank Chimero ‘Influencing Design’

The Portable Presents series stages interactive talks with ground breaking digital and creative minds from across the globe and this time, Portable brings renowned design chameleon, Frank Chimero to Australia.

Based in New York, Chimero works out of Studiomates, a collective space open to designers, illustrators, bloggers, writers and developers who are on the aesthetically pleasing quest to produce something completely different. Having worked as a designer, illustrator and strategist for The New York Times, Facebook and WIRED, Chimero also plays author to The Shape Of Design, a handbook for designers of any level which fosters the idea that design and emotional connectivity are intertwined.

Chimero is also widely influential in his stance on Design Theory and the creative process, believing that creative fulfillment can be achieved through collaboration, experimentation and wonder. As a commentator, Chimero is candid about the need for aspiring designers and professionals alike to define new paths in the multifaceted realm of design for true success to occur, regardless of geographical boundaries.

The talks series by Portable will feature Frank Chimero discussing the intricacies of design, his unique perspective of the industry, his own design choices and the innate power of design to influence and redefine an industry that is in a state of flux.

Touring The State Library of Queensland in Brisbane (3pm – 5pm, 5 June), The Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne (3pm – 5pm, 7 June) and The Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney as part of VIVID Ideas (3pm – 5pm, 8 June), each session will consist of a keynote presentation, Q&A time as well as networking drinks post the event set to inspire design-savvy individuals.
