Public Offer: More Talk, More Action

Public Offer is the first curated exhibition at the new Design Hub at RMIT University, and is on show now along with the travelling exhibition Archizines. It’s a showcase of the rich history of of design publishing in Melbourne over the past few decades, and as part of a series of satellite events and projects around the exhibition, a panel based discussion entitled “More Talk, More Action” will be held at the Design Hub from 7pm on March 19th.

Event organiser Timothy Moore had this to say about the motivation behind the event: “Publications are a platform for research and debate but graphic designers are often too busy “making” to be making publications about graphic design. What does the work of graphic designers in other fields — fashion, music, art, publishing — tell us about the discipline? What are the opportunities of this broader social context? And does this make publications about graphic design ever more rare and important?”

The panel features Bonnie Abbott (Gather & Fold, Double Days), Layla Tweedie-Cullen (Split/fountain), Michael Trudgeon (Crowd Productions), Stuart Geddes (Chase & Galley), and Warren Taylor (Monash University). All are welcome to attend.

More Talk, More Action is an off schedule event of Most Beautiful Books of Australia and New Zealand 2013, and forms part of the 2013 L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival Cultural Program.
