Semi-Permanent Sydney line-up

Semi-Permanent 2011 is set to kick off in Sydney on 13 and 14 May 2011 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year’s conference, proudly supported by desktop, is set to be another bumper event from the Semi-Permanent team.

Webuyyourkids are Sonny Day and Biddy Maroney from Newtown in Sydney. They are exhibiting artists as well as commercial illustrators operating as a small multi-disciplinary design studio.

Supervixen
Motion graphics/design, Sydney
Supervixen creates motion design, illustration, typography, branding and conceptual work of all sorts. Supervixen is the creation of Morten Rowley and Daniel Bavell, award-winning Sydney-based art directors seeking new creative challenges outside the norm.

Kelly Thompson
Illustrator, Wellington
Kelly Thompson may be from New Zealand, but for the last few years numerous Australian magazines and blogs have claimed her as their own. Her distinctive seductive illustrations and penchant for beautiful girls have caught the eye of the art and fashion community and launched her career Internationally, she is now one of New Zealand’s most popular and recognised illustrators.

Kayt Jones
Photographer, London
Fashion Photographer of the Year in 2009, Kayt Jones is a London born, LA based fashion photographer. In 2004 Harper’s BAZAAR featured Kayt as an iconic female photographer of her generation and in 2009 she was awarded Fashion Photographer of the Year, at the Clothes Show Live Style Awards in London.

Corey Arnold
Photographer, Portland, USA
Corey is a photographer and Alaskan commercial fisherman. From 2003-2010 he worked as a deckhand aboard the Bering Sea crabber f/v Rollo and more recently, captains a wild salmon gillnet boat in Bristol Bay, Alaska. The off season is filled with travel, gallery exhibitions, magazine and ad photography assignments with a bit of backyard gardening, cat maintenance, and skateboarding in Portland, Oregon.

Annie Sperling
Production designer, Los Angeles
Annie Sperling has worked with numerous directors and photographers including David LaChapelle, Janusz Kaminski, the Malloys, Brett Ratner, Chris Milk, Jared Leto.

Some of her past work in editorials, commercials and music videos has included Motorola, NipTuck, Concrete Blonde, Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, and the Jonas Brothers. She has recently worked as an art directed for production designer Marc Greville Morris on a large international war movie shot in the Republic of Georgia.

Surface to Air

Born in Paris in 2000, Surface to Air is a unique group operating in contemporary fashion, communication and film. Year after year, the team has grown into a multidisciplinary company spanning across creative domains such as fashion, graphics, photography, design, music, film. Today each company develops its own activity but always within the Surface To Air vision.

Reg Mombassa
Artist/musician – Sydney

He designed the ‘Hero’s ‘segment for the Sydney 2000 Olympics Closing Ceremony. The designs included 12 six-metre high inflatables, 2 twenty-metre helium filled dirigibles, 3 stages and 16 inflatable crowd balls. He also designed the image that was used for the lining of athlete’s uniforms and the closing ceremony athlete’s shirts.

His artwork is included in the permanent collections of: The National Art Gallery, Canberra/Art Gallery of New South Wales/Powerhouse Museum of NSW/University of Sydney Union.

Michael Leon
Graphic design – Los Angeles
Michael Leon is an artist, a designer and a skater, and this triad works in combination for everything he does. He has exhibited extensively over the past two decades, designs for a few lines and worked as the art director at Nike for a few years in the second half of the last decade. He collaborated on the SB, Tech Pack, and 6.0 lines and helped with some pieces for the ’08 Olympics in Beijing.

Visual Effects – Sydney

Now in its eleventh year, Fuel has garnered a reputation for being a creatively-driven, innovative visual effects studio with a hands-on approach. It has grown from its five founders to having a full-time crew of more than 80. Fuel’s feature film credits include Iron Man 2, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Spirit and Charolotte’s Web, and they are currently in production on Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger.
