Shed Light – call for submissions

Centered around the idea of ‘light’, Melbourne’s ‘The Light in Winter’ is back for a sixth year and is calling for submissions for a new addition to the program – Shed Light.

Shed Light program director, Robyn Archer, is looking for ideas for 10 ‘light sheds’ or pods – unique or illuminated shelters which will occupy the main square for the duration of the festival from 1 June to 1 July in Federation Square. The idea is for these sculpted/designed shelters to be visible and publicly accessible hubs of activity.

Other features of the festival include workshops, performances and displays anchored around a number of key installations by range of artists and designers.

If you’re an architect, designer or artist who is interested in submitting an idea for a Light Shed, head to fedsquare.com/thelightinwinter and download the expression of interest which lists additional design criteria, design fees offered and the application process. Applications must be submitted by 5pm, 9 March 2012.
