Sugar Mountain 2013

Hybrid arts and music festival Sugar Mountain is back for another year to “celebrate creativity across multiple platforms, with engaging performances in intriguing spaces”.

The festival will be held over multiple days in January 2013, with the main event taking place at The Forum Theatre (in the heart of Melbourne’s city centre) on Saturday 19 January. Additionally the festival will expand it’s program across venues such as Rooftop Bar, Polyester Records, Schoolhouse Studios, Lamington Drive, Chapter House Lane, Abbotsford Convent and The Bottom End to showcase an impressive array of local and international creative talent.

In addition to the festival’s music lineup (featuring guests such as Dirty Projectors, ESG, Peanut Butter Wolf, Collarbones, HTRK, Kirin J Callinan and Laurel Halo), the visual artist and satellite programs have recently been announced. Entitled A Light, Bend & Stretch, the visual arts programming is a salute to local visionaries using light as tool within their creative practice, and explores the union and juxtaposition of light and movement.

Curated by artist and festival creative director Pete Keen, Sugar Mountain’s visual arts line-up features acclaimed Australian dance choreographer Antony Hamilton (Chunky Move, The Lyon Opera Ballet, Australian Dance Theatre), Australian director and producer Kris Moyes (known for his music videos for artists such as The Presets and Kirin J Callinan), Misha Hollenbach (one half of clothing label & publisher PAM) and the enigmatic Markus Hofko (aka The Rainbowmonkey).
