Tea-leaf reading? There’s an App for that

The lost art of tea-leaf reading has been given a new lease on life with the first ever iPhone application that gives viewers the meaning of a tea-leaf pattern on their screen.  Long-time tea-leaf reader Lindel Barker-Revell has created the Tea-Wise app for ”people far away who need solace and a bit of guidance”. It’s not limited to English natives, having been translated into Spanish and Japanese, and ready to be launched into Chinese, French and German.

Exactly how accurate an iPhone tea-leaf reading will be, and how much comfort it brings to those seriously interested in fortune-telling is something worth questioning. Customers are required to turn their tea cup around and tap the screen three times before a computer-generated pattern appears. The meaning of the computer-generated pattern is then dispensed. Nevertheless, it makes for a great conversation starter, and can join the daily horoscope app, the psychic locator and even your psychic aura in the “apps you never thought you’d own” pile.

Here’s to 200,000 applications and counting.
