2015 has been dubbed The Year of the Freelancer after predictions reveal that Australian businesses will be made up of broader and more geographically-spread teams in the future. A national snapshot of employer hiring intentions released this year found a big shift toward hiring freelancers and white-collar project workers, as opposed to full-time equivalent staff. Freelancers also bring specialist skills without the large overheads. With this in mind and to provide businesses a one-stop platform to freelancers’ profiles, The Freelance Collective has been launched.

The Freelance Collective is a database of quality creative freelance talent in 23 categories free to search – including journalists, graphic designers, software developers, copywriters, photographers, videographers, web developers, bloggers, creative directors, film makers, editors, PRs and more.

One of them is  Nina Hendy, a freelance business journalist and wordsmith for a decade. Hendy says top talent has been difficult to track down when it’s needed most – until now.

“As freelance PRs know, work isn’t a place anymore. Technology has enabled people to work from anywhere and collaborate with others all over the world,” Hendy says.

“Australia’s top freelance PR talent are among the growing numbers of freelancers who work from anywhere on clients from all over the country and overseas, but getting found for a project at the exact time a client is looking for someone with your skills and experience has been a challenge, but not anymore.”

A profile page is $9/ month. Being a profile holder also gives you access to a weekly newsletter, blogs from other profile holders and interesting services for freelancers, and a members’ only Facebook page.
