VIC TAS GOTYA finalists 2012

The top design graduates in Victoria and Tasmania for 2012 (as recognised by the Design Institute of Australia Victoria Branch) have been announced in DIA’s annual Graduate of the Year Awards (GOTYA). The program looks to give recognition to emerging designers in the fields of graphic design, industrial design, furniture design, jewellery design, textile & fashion design, interior design and interior design & decoration.

The nominees were drawn from nine Victorian and Tasmanian institutions who put forward their top 2012 graduates. From there the (anonymous) portfolios were judged and up to four finalists from each disciplines were selected for an interview with judging. The judges were looking for design solutions, transferable workplace skills and predicted impact on the Australian design industry.

The graphic design finalists were judged by a panel consisting of Joseph Antonios (Nexus Designs Pty Ltd); Jack Mussett (Motherbird) and Sash Fernando (Principle Design).

Congratulations to the following graduates selected as finalists in the graphic design category:

  • Tom Sabbatucci (Monash University)
  • Seviora Citra (Swinburne University of Technology)
  • Emily Flanagan (Swinburne University of Technology)
  • Andrew Robertson (Swinburne University of Technology)

The winner in each category will be announced at an awards ceremony, to be held on 21 March 2013.
