We did it! Semi-Precious is fully funded!

Published:  September 15, 2014

Thnks to the support of over 220 pledgers and countless sharers, likers and retweeters, Semi-Precious is now fully funded on Pozible and we couldn’t be more excited!

We’ve been overwhelmed with the immense amount of support we’ve received from the design community (and their proud parents!) – being able to get Semi-Precious off the ground and on to a trail-blazing start is a benefit to all graduates involved in the publication, and to the broader design population as a whole, as we promote and discuss graduate work as potentially some of the most expressive, experimental, fresh and forward-thinking work you could welcome into your studio.

We must thank Gemma O’Brien, DJ and designer Les Level (aka Luke Brown), educational extraordinaire Veronica Grow from Old School New School and labelling legends at Various Projects for their donations and help with the rewards, RMIT University, BJ Ball Paper, Become Creative Recruitment, Docklands Press, as well as Georgia from Broadsheet for her article, Matt Haynes (Analogue/Digital) for his blogged pledge of support and every single tweet and retweet, like, share and Instagram of support.

Stepping away from what could be just another student catalogue showcasing the work of high-achievers, we have chosen instead to select young creatives that we see to be influential or representational in their conceptual construction, execution and motivation to pursue projects that push the boundaries of what’s expected. This book will celebrate the power of potential and the role of graduates in forecasting what’s to come, as well as how we all work collectively to strengthen our abundant industry.

Semi-Precious plays a key part in a much broader engagement of creative minds and wonderful talents from across the industry. We were hoping to ignite a conversation about how emerging talent is going to shape the industry, and now, thanks to all of you, we can!

And we can now confirm Semi-Precious’ official launch: Those who are coming along to the Create Design Awards Gala Night (tickets are now on sale!) on the 30th October will be able to buy a launch copy or pick up their reward copy. Otherwise, copies will be posted out to pledgers in early November. with a limited few made available for sale soon after.

Either way, before you know it, there’ll be a hardcopy in your hands!
