What Type R U? A Designworks Instagram competition

Designers see typography as the heart of effective communication. A great typeface choice clearly sets the tone for the words it represents – it can express emotion – excite, inform, or even frighten a reader. As an industry leading institution for creative thought Designworks College of Design, in Burleigh, teaches its students the importance of great type crafting through its Diploma in Graphic Design course.

To get students, and the wider design community, thinking about the importance of the communicative aspects of type, Designworks has rolled out a competition in collaboration with Adobe, which gives entrants the opportunity to express themselves through Typography and a win a year’s subscription Adobe’s Creative Cloud.

The Designworks #whattyperu Instagram competition gives Australian designers and typophiles the chance to win a this great prize, by simply sourcing, or creating a piece of type or typography that reflects themselves and posting it on Instagram.

You might be ANGRY or bold, it’s completely up to you. Designworks encourages entrants to source interesting type pieces from absolutely anywhere, or even design something brand new altogether.

To be instantly in the running to win a one year subscription to the Adobe Creative Cloud service, courtesy of Designworks, you must post your image on Instagram and mention #whattyperu and @designworks_edu in your caption.

The competition closes on July 25th 2013 with winner announced on Friday 26th July 2013. For further details visit Designworks.
