2011 Sydney New Year’s Eve

Imagination Australia has unveiled the theme and creative concept for New Year’s Eve on Sydney Harbour 2011: Time To Dream. Citizens of Sydney will be met with vibrant colours, bridge effect and theme designed by Imagination’s creative team, which includes design luminary Marc Newson as the event’s artistic director.

“The ‘endless rainbow’ event logo designed by Marc Newson represents the hopes and aspirations all Australian’s hold for the coming year. It is essentially the great Australian dream, the dream and possibility of a better life that we all share. We see midnight as a time for people to approach the coming year as blank canvas,” says Imagination’s general manager Heath Campanaro.

The colours and logo reflect Marc’s minimalist style and are also infused with a great amount of optimism and positivity. The rainbow includes violet to represent community, peace, social stability and connectedness; blue to symbolise the harbour, sky and future aspirations; green for the environment, nurturing and growing; and yellow, which epitomises optimism, happiness and a sunny attitude.

The senior project team at Imagination’s work includes event theming and design, marketing, and all live creative aspects of the event, all musical elements including the fireworks soundtracks for 9pm and midnight, and the much-anticipated ‘Bridge Effect’ that remains under wraps until the big night.
