Australian Red Cross brand and Victorian Bushfire Appeal 2009

STUDIO:  housemouse
DESIGNER(S):  Miguel Valenzuela
CLIENT:  Australian Red Cross

The Australian Red Cross is one of the 186 members of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the largest humanitarian network in the world. However, it felt that there were distinct Australian values that should be reflected in its brand across all Australian states. In 2006 housemouse was commissioned by the Australian Red Cross to assist with the repositioning of its existing brand. housemouse was also asked to develop the organisation’s complete style guide.

For housemouse, working with (and for) such an internationally respected organisation was a privilege. Australian Red Cross and housemouse were delighted by the final results. Two benefits stood out: consistency throughout the organisation; and ease of use for internal and external audiences.

As the news of one of Australia’s worst national disasters came to light during that frightful weekend in February 2009, housemouse threw their support behind Red Cross, the organisation about to support thousands of people across Victoria. They put the studio on alert and made the team available to develop designs to convey the compelling messages in support of the Victorian Bushfire Appeal 2009.

More than $375 million was raised for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
