Benoît Bodhuin: graphic design on display

Lille-based graphic designer Benoît Bodhuin occupies a exclusive space that few can suitably work within, and still call themselves a graphic designer. Bodhuin creates the kind of work that challenges the traditions and expectations of the industry, smashing up grids and dissembling type, flirting with art and jumping from commission to studio project without much of a change in style.

Much of what Bodhuin does is characterised in a playful tension between colour and composition, yet so carefully arranged that it never appears trendy. His work, while experimental, is professional and critical of the design process, which has him labelled as a ‘progressive’ designer.

He has recently updated with a lot of new work, including the posters he did for Erik Brandt’s Ficciones Typografika only a few weeks ago, and the exhibition La typo, c’est sérieux! (Typography, this is serious!).
