Bubble & Squeak, named after the English dish made from a roast’s leftovers, is a campaign I pitched to Oxfam Australia (as part of its Design For Change public brief) aimed at raising awareness about global food waste. It includes advertisements, a microsite (housed within the Oxfam Australia site) with infographics that break down the link between individual food waste and global food justice, as well as a a comprehensive iPhone app that plans your meals, reminds you when to start cooking, and helps you cook with seemingly unrelated leftovers.

The biggest food waste culprits in New South Wales are people aged 18-24, so the campaign needed to be young and lighthearted. Through paper craft, the idea is to get people to see their leftovers in a more creative and exciting way, while educating them about the importance of diminishing one’s individual food waste, and carrying Oxfam’s positive approach towards incremental change.
