The creation of a fresh brand identity for the Utzon Music Series is our latest venture in branding work for cultural clients.

Named for the visionary architect of the Sydney Opera House, Jørn Utzon, the Utzon Music Series has grown into one of Sydney’s premier chamber music series. Intimate performances by some of the world’s finest musicians in the 200-seat Utzon room offer patrons the perfect way to discover and enjoy classical music.

We wanted to outwit the sometimes stuffy image of classical music and present it in a more modern, inspiring and provocative way. Music stirs the soul – we wanted to convey our emotional response to music and to the Opera House itself, and to create something which spoke to both existing patrons and to new audiences.

We studied the shapes and colours in the building and its harbour setting, and the resulting brand identity is essentially an abstract expression of the music, the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour and the city itself.
