The client is a freelance copywriter and editor with a decade’s experience working with design agencies, cultural institutions and universities. Looking to relaunch her business after completing her PhD, she approached Thursday for a brand that would capture her existing commercial experience as well as her creative academic writing, teaching and research. Thursday designed a typographic solution coupling Mrs Eaves’ sophisticated play on tradition with the clean simplicity of Helvetica, and a clever speech-bubble ligature. Letterpress business cards were the centrepiece of the stationery suite. The 600gsm edgepainted cards fully capture the tactile and graphic qualities of words, as well as the creativity and craft reflected in the client’s byline, ‘wordsmith’.
