The Distillery: Sign Painters film paraphenalia

Late last year, Sign Painters: The Movie hit Australian shores, selling out its limited screenings across capital cities. It’s premiere, in Sydney, was hosted by The Distillery – a letterpress and design workshop in Darlinghurst, who wrapped up the eagerly awaited event into a full-blown celebration of the manual, slowly-rendered and soul-affirming sign painting and letterpress craft, with a short talk and demonstration from local Sydney sign painter Roger Warsop and some specially prepared, ‘crafted’ surprises for the audience.

As a special touch for the evening, The Distillery had printed and prepared gifts for the guests, designing and producing 100 individual 50 page flip-books (two inks, and sewn-stitch binding of Gmund Cotton 110gsm and Buffalo Board 320gsm) and a ‘hand-lettered’ popcorn box, which could be popped from its flatpack and constructed for use by the viewers.

Edit: Sign Painters, The Movie is now available to watch online
